Practice (play) at least 20 minutes a day to get a quality open French Horn (horn) sound. Don't put a lot of pressure on your lips. An open sound using your diaphragm (stomach muscle) to get louder and softer, not pressure. Keep your teeth apart and use your tongue to articulate the notes with "tut".

Emrochure - An open sound

The jaw needs to be forward to help get an open sound. The bottom lip needs to be almost rolling forward and out. The mouth needs to be open. a bit and the teeth open more than normal.

An open sound is more mellow and pleasing to listen to even when playing loud.

Get the "air" going. Fill up your lunges with a big breath.

An open sound is very important. Less pressure and lips with a little space with the mouth open a bit. Use the tongue to articulate smoothly with this song.

Ensemble Playing

Solo playing within an ensemble can be an amazing musical event. Handing off the solos from instrument to instrument is such an important part of the performance. Connecting each instrument through dynamics and phrasing is a special kind of feeling and connection between the performers.

A great performance at the lesson. This song is quite nice and has. agreat horn part. Remmington is playing along with the sound track of the movie. This part at the end is up to high A. The sound is quite and improvement from the June 22nd recording.

The problem is that he needs to use the air better so it doesn't sound like he's running out of breath. Bigger breaths and a smoother sound with better tounging. He almost sound like a professional and he's only 11 going on 12. Double wow!!!
